Toyota Sienna Automatic Doors Won T Open

Sliding door wont close till the end and would not lock properly fixed it.

This happens when the latch motor fails which is fairly common in toyota siennas. About 8 months ago our passenger side sliding door was not opening with either the automatic door triggers 3 t. The automatic sliding passenger door on my 2005 toyota sienna won t open. When you press a button to automatically open the sliding door it makes noise attempting to open the door but fails.

If you pull the handle on the inside or outside it doesn t open the door it behaves just like it is locked. Close the door and wait 10 seconds. The only way you can get the door open is to pull the handle and then hold it for two or three seconds. If you push the open button inside the car or on the fob you can hear the motor try to open but the door doesn t budge and the motor stops after a second.

Often times it will make a noise while it attempts to open but then fails to do so. When the passenger side sliding door is forced open it can then be closed using the front dash switch the passenger door switch or the fob. Both electric sliding doors will not open. Problem started intermittantly but now won t open at all.

But if you pull the handle and hold it for a few seconds the door opens. Once the third cycle completes the power door battery is reset. Sometimes the side door will struggle to open when you press the button to automatically open it. Luckily replacing just the latch motor is an easy and inexpensive solution.

Symptom of sliding door latch problem. I have a 2 year old 2014 toyota sienna slx.
