I have an 05 sienna that has developed a problem with the driver s side power door.
Toyota sienna automatic door not opening.
Open the door with the remote a third time.
If i tug on the door a little to help it it will close all the way.
It opens fine but when closing it gets to the very end then re opens.
Luckily replacing just the latch motor is an easy and inexpensive solution.
Wait 10 seconds then open the door with the remote again.
Although the door pin switch is probably bad not causing the dome light to come on the that left door that s not going to cause the automatic door do not work it s not used in that circuit.
This happens when the latch motor fails which is fairly common in toyota siennas.
Once the third cycle completes the power door battery is reset.
But if you pull the handle and hold it for a few seconds the door opens.
Press the open button on the remote key fob to open the sliding doors.
I know from poking around a little on the forum that the power doors can be a little finicky on these vans.
When you press a button to automatically open the sliding door it makes noise attempting to open the door but fails.
You could remove that switch and ground the wire going to the switch if the dome light comes on then you know the switch is bad.
The only way you can get the door open is to pull the handle and then hold it for two or three seconds.
Often times it will make a noise while it attempts to open but then fails to do so.
Close the door and wait 10 seconds.
Symptom of sliding door latch problem.
